Lead for Women is a grassroots network of women Labour Party members, who want to ensure women are equally and meaningfully represented at every level of the Labour Party – from branch meetings to the Shadow Cabinet Table. We were set up last Summer, during the leadership election, by a group of women Party activists who were frustrated by the low profile of senior Labour women during the General Election campaign, and who wanted to ensure that the next Leader of the Labour Party would ‘lead for women’ and would help create a Party in which women lead. We continue to campaign and organise to tear down the barriers that stop women getting and staying involved in Labour politics.
